One of my favorite things about the Pacific Northwest is that you don’t have to go very far to be out of the city and in a river/mountain oasis. Skamania Lodge is the definition of just that. 3 hours from Seattle, or just 45 minutes from Portland, Skamania Lodge is nestled above the Columbia River gorge right on the WA/OR border. And it just happens to be down the road from the famed “Bridge of the Gods” we saw Cheryl Strayed cross at the end of “Wild”.
Places like Skamania are my favorite places to visit. Sure, I love an adventure trip, but it’s so nice to get somewhere and just feel like you’re taking a deep breath – there’s no pressure to go go go; you can just relax and be. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty to do if you like.
The lodge is right on a golf course, there is an aerial course throughout the property where you can also zip line, the spa offers a multitude of services, including a CBD massage, which we got and was SO relaxing. Not to mention the Pacific Crest Trail if you wanted to do some hiking, and Hood River is only a 20 minute drive away as well with beaches and breweries.
And with a spectacular place like this comes a spectacular event space where you can hold anything from a corporate gathering to your dream wedding. It’s not often you get views like this from your reception.
Both nights we were there, we went outside, sat by the big bonfire and roasted marshmallows for s’mores. (Don’t worry – the gift shop has a kit with everything you need. No need to bring your own supplies!)
I loved everything about this place so much. It makes the perfect girls weekend getaway, romantic weekend for two, or even a family trip to adventure with your kiddos. I can’t recommend it enough. I had a pretty busy couple weeks leading up to this trip, and it was exactly what I needed to reset.
Thanks to Skamania Lodge for partnering on this post!
