We’re growing up fast in this big little city of ours, but there are some things that remain the same that we can count on year after year, and the native Seattleite in me hopes that never changes. It seems like each neighborhood has one big event over the summer, and Capitol Hill Block Party is, you guessed it, Capitol Hill’s.
I remember going probably in my late teens/early 20’s, and it was such a fun vibe. Music everywhere on multiple stages, food, drinks, seas of people just there to enjoy themselves. If I had to pick one “party” neighborhood, it would be Capitol Hill. They’ve all got their things going for them, but if you’re going to be in Capitol Hill, you’re probably there to have a good time. Block Party was fun back in the day, and it has evolved into an even bigger event. You could even call it a festival, which of course brings an element of style and fashion to the table. Our festival style isn’t going to be that of Coachella, but we definitely have our own thing going on up here in the PNW.
I put together a couple looks that I thought embodied “Pacific Northwest Festival” with style and comfort in mind.
This year’s bands include Betty Who, Father John Misty, Dillon Francis, Cashmere Cat, just to name a few. Are you going?? Who are you most excited to see?
First Look: Faithfull the Brand Dress | Biker Shorts | Converse Shoes | Sunglasses | Belt Bag
Second Look: High Waist Shorts | Black Bodysuit | White Tennis Shoes | Sunglasses | Necklace
And if you want some local inspiration, head to Retail Therapy, 35th North, Bait Shop up on Capitol Hill, to name a few, who also have some Block Party perks! Retailers in the area close their doors for the weekend so Block Party can happen, so supporting them if we can is always a good idea!
