Life Lately: Ep.1

I want to start doing more series here on the blog. That feeling is partly inspired by wanting more organization with my content creation, and it’s partly inspired by just having lots of things I want to share with you, but not knowing how to present it.

I’m not going to promise that, for example, on every Tuesday is “Beauty Tuesday”, but I’ll be adding these series to my list of Categories and add to them as I find things I truly love that I want to tell you about.

I’m going to start with “Life Lately”. This might be a bi-weekly thing, it might be a monthly thing; I’ll just have to see how often my rotation of what I’m doing on a regular basis is evolving.

This was actually inspired by Bethany Menzel, who is an adorable mom of 2, with one of my favorite Instagram feeds.

Lately I am…

Eating for breakfast: 1 fried egg, overeasy on Ezekiel toast. (I like the sesame one best), with Everything But the Bagel seasoning, a little salt, and lots of Sriracha on top.

Reading: “The Year of Magical Thinking” by Joan Didion.
Wit and Delight for inspiration on all things.

Searching on the Internet: Recipes, mostly via What’s Gaby Cooking

Wearing on Repeat: Jeans (duh) and my Adidas tennis shoes.

Inspired by: Ruthie Lindsey and Jedidiah Jenkins. I’ve never been more in love with two people whom I’ve never met. Ruthie’s zest for life despite her debilitating chronic pain makes the word “inspiring” seem like the tip of the iceberg. And the way Jedidiah sees the world and then is able to articulate it in his writing makes me want to write every day for the rest of my life even if to only achieve a fraction of the impact of his words.
I just listened to these podcasts featuring both of them on this one, and each of them individually on this one (Jed) and this one (Ruthie).

Listening to: Song: Love Lies by Khalid (with Normani)
Album: Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves. FUN FACT: I first heard her play at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville like 7 years ago when she was a young songwriter and no one knew who she was.

Working on: being self-motivated. A conscious life is a series of moments of mindfully showing up for ourselves, and I’m working on learning how to better do that successfully.

Trying to stop: touching my face.

Planning: trips to Charleston and Iceland!

Appreciating: the rain, because it isn’t going anywhere for a little while, and it’s what makes the Pacific Northwest enviously green.
